BVT Hackathon
01/01/1970
Hackathons have been described as breeding grounds for fresh ideas, a way to awaken an experimentative mindset and have been credited for innovations such as the Facebook ‘Like’ button. They are popping up all over the place - but what exactly are they? A hackathon is a concentrated event where engineers, developers and creatives (anyone really!) can get together to design something new. It can be collaborative or competitive and while it often involves coding and software solutions, it doesn’t have to. This week, at BVT we are embarking on a hackathon to find some cool solutions that will help our customers in a post COVID-19 lockdown world. This can be through brand new processes, improving old processes, using new software, using new tools - the options are endless. We are deliberately not adding any restrictions to the solution so we can let creativity work its magic. This is a great opportunity for our creative engineers and BVT team members to think outside of the box, not to mention having some fun and building team spirit during isolation. But as with so many things these days, the challenges will be compounded by our lockdown. A hackathon centres around the power of the collective brain but we will be holding our hackathon as a virtual event, with each person participating from their own space. Virtual hackathons aren’t common, so in a way the team will also be "hacking" how best to do this throughout the day. To start the day, we will be defining the problems for solving and then separating into teams. Throughout the hackathon each team will have the opportunity to provide updates and share any issues they are having trouble solving. At the end of the day teams will present their solution and a winner will be chosen. There are a few surprises planned for the day to keep everyone entertained and engaged, but you’ll have to attend the event to find out what those will be! Get in touch if you’d like to join us, or watch this space to find out what we achieve.
We know you're busy so let's get straight to it — How can we help you today?
