Female leadership is so hot right now! Female leaders in Asia, Europe and in our corner of the world are being recognised for their strong decisive action and empathy.
At Brevity we have an executive team that is majority female; myself, Irina Cherkasova and Nicky Deller make up three quarters of the team with Matt Bishop completing the picture. Over the past weeks we have met daily and prioritised our discussions and decision making. We’ve strived to balance our commercial needs with care and consideration for our team. It has been hard at times.
I’m proud to say we’ve been open, direct, highly transparent and used strong processes to enable others to contribute; we don’t have all the answers. I am confident that we have been successful, in part due to the diversity of the decision makers on our team.
Still, women account for fewer than 7% of the world’s leaders, 24% of politicians and fewer than 5% of Fortune 500 Chief Executive Officers. We are definitely punching above our weight. Let’s see what happens on the other side as a whole generation of women decide they want to be Jacinda when they grow up (actually me too!)…
